Lions across the earth support you
You had peasants, slaves by a blacker pen but you always loved yourself
You weren’t taught –
“Wait What. Weren’t we taught?”
Shall we swim? Shall we slice our thighs along the seam and pull out the clotted
fat which itches?
The Sun through the sap
A golden glowing ray
An ember, igniting
Pivot? This is not a pivot – there’s nothing mechanical in a dream
Better you without than he within
Speak in language I don’t understand
So I wont understand you
In the corners lurk the
Knives and ruined lives
You see I can’t scratch their eyes out with a pen
I can’t slash their throats
And watch the spray
The dancing ribbon
The flies of Time land on me
Nine confuses, each with a domain
of Anxiety to rule
I will not be shifted.
“You’re just different sides of the same coin.”
Yes, but we’re different sides.
The Gulf Stream is streaming this morning
The bus driver is nervous. So
I guess this land makes nervous ones too
Then he tells us to buckle up.
The water on the asphalt skates parallel with the wind.
The rain arrives in syllables.
The reflected lights on the window fluoresce
I’m leaving and that’s okay
